The critical land use decisions that are made in the next 10 to 20 years will shape the future of Ingalls Indiana.\u00a0 Of the five Board seats, two (2) are up for re-election.\u00a0 \u00a0Current President Crystal Everhart and former Sheriffs Deputy Cody Head have Residents safety a top priority and their goals and objectives are outlined below.\u00a0 A link to Ingalls Indiana 2025 comprehensive plan is also listed below.<\/p>\n

Established in 1896, the town of Ingalls, located in Madison County Indiana will be celebrating 130 years of growth in 2026. Today, we need to have the right people that will protect Ingalls future<\/strong><\/em>.

Public Safety: \u00a0Proper Police funding. \u00a0Equipment, Training & more Officers<\/h4>\n

The 2020 census states Ingalls Indiana had a population of 2,223 residents. \u00a0In 2025 that estimate has grown to 2,791, that is a 21% growth in residence while your Police force has remained the same since 2020.<\/p>\n

Currently our police force consisting of seven (7) full time officers, who serve and protect 24\/7. Including Police Chief Chris Thompson, that is only one officer per 317 residents and one officer per 276 acres.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_separator border_width=”2″ css=””][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=””]<\/p>\n

Infrastructure, Growth and Taxes<\/h4>\n<\/div>\n

Ingalls footprint is 1,939 acres, 68% of those acres are agricultural. \u00a0When our farm land becomes rezoned for commercial use, we need a comprehensive, proactive plan for intelligent growth while preserving Ingalls history.<\/p>\n

Infrastructure: \u00a0Eight critical departments, each needing careful and scalable planning. Streets, Water, Fire, Stormwater, Police, Zoning and they\u2019re all funded by the Treasury.<\/p>\n

Taxes, Home Values & Economic Impact<\/h4>\n
Home values are on the rise. \u00a0In 2021 the median Ingalls home value was $118K. \u00a0New HOAs such as Maple Trails and Estes Park have home values above $350K. \u00a0We need to ensure that Ingalls is receiving their fair share of property taxes from the collective of Madison County.<\/div>\n

Hello!\u00a0 <\/span>I am Crystal Everhart, the current President of the Ingalls Town Council.\u00a0 <\/span>I also serve as a Liasson from the Council to the Police Department and Planning Director.\u00a0 <\/span>I enjoy serving the Town of Ingalls and its residents to the best of my ability.\u00a0 <\/span>I was appointed to my Council seat in 2022 due to a resignation of a Council Member which opened the seat; this year I will run in the first election for my seat.\u00a0 <\/span>My campaign slogan is \u201cProper Growth for a Small Town\u201d.\u00a0 <\/span>I want to see Ingalls grow in a manner that serves the town and its residents in the best way, however, in the growth boom we have found ourselves in that is a challenge!\u00a0 <\/span>I stand for controlled growth, public safety, and infrastructure. At this point in time with the housing, we have coming online soon, I am ready to hold on future requests for residential subdivision development. Although I am open to other housing types, I would like Ingalls to have a more diverse offering to future residents with more affordable housing. With that said, we can focus a little more on the retail and commercial business growth for the town.\u00a0 <\/span>Also, the controlled growth will allow for the infrastructure of our roads and water company to catch up.\u00a0 <\/span>Public Safety is an extreme importance, and I have been working diligently with our Police Chief over the past year to set our department up for success.<\/p>\n

Who am I outside of this?\u00a0 <\/span>Well, I moved to Ingalls in 2010 and have lived here since.\u00a0 <\/span>I have two grown daughters, Kaylee and Alyssa, and between them I have 5 beautiful grandchildren: Aria, Eliza, Preston, Brantley and Bailey.\u00a0 <\/span>I enjoy spending time with them as they always help me to reset from all the chaos life can bring.\u00a0 <\/span>They are little reminders of what life is truly about!\u00a0 <\/span>I graduated from Pendleton Heights High School in 1992. I have made myself a good living and life working in the mortgage industry over the last 31+ years.\u00a0 <\/span>I have management experience along with experience from the many other positions I have held throughout my career.\u00a0 <\/span>I have experienced layoffs in 2008 and again in 2022; I also tried to break out of the industry in 2018-2019 to work in a passion area of helping domestic violence victims. I worked at Alternatives, Inc. in Anderson, IN as a Case Manager.\u00a0 <\/span>Due to being a survivor of domestic violence myself it was a wonderful experience to help those in need in a situation I understood firsthand.\u00a0 <\/span>Unfortunately, I found that the obstacles that you had to jump past first to help them were frustrating and I went back into the mortgage industry. I did serve on the Board of Trustees for Alternatives, Inc. for two years as well after that.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

My name is Cody Head, and I\u2019m a Republican running for Ingalls Town Council because I believe strong communities are built through service, preparation, and steady leadership. This campaign isn\u2019t about political party \u2014 it\u2019s about Ingalls, keeping our town safe, and encouraging responsible growth while preserving the small-town feel that makes our community special. I believe government starts at the local level, and it\u2019s where we can make the most meaningful difference in people\u2019s daily lives.<\/p>\n

I started my career in long-term care for senior citizens in\u00a0Indianapolis\u00a0and worked my way up over 15 years to become Director of Plant Operations. In that role, I was responsible for maintaining safe, efficient, and compliant operations for residents, families, and staff, managing a $6 million budget, coordinating contractors, and overseeing daily operations. This experience taught me the importance of careful planning, fiscal responsibility, and accountability \u2014 especially when people\u2019s health and safety are involved.<\/p>\n

I have also volunteered as a Reserve Deputy Sheriff in\u00a0Hancock County, gaining hands-on experience in law enforcement duties, including assisting with traffic stops, jail operations, and community policing efforts. Additionally, I have volunteered on COOP (Continuity of Operations Planning) and COG (Continuity of Government) planning for two county emergency management agencies, which strengthened my understanding of public safety, emergency preparedness, and community resilience.<\/p>\n

I earned my Bachelor of Science from\u00a0Vincennes University\u00a0and my MBA from\u00a0Indiana Wesleyan University. I grew up in\u00a0Fortville, and now call Ingalls home with my family. My wife and I have been married for 10 years, and we are raising our 9-year-old daughter here. We are active members of Pendleton Christian Church and love spending time outdoors \u2014 fishing and enjoying nature together as a family.<\/p>\n

Ingalls has always been close to my heart. My mother and her family grew up here, and my grandmother, Janice Cassidy, served as Clerk-Treasurer and later ran the post office \u2014 a legacy of service that inspires me to give back to our town.<\/p>\n

I believe in small government, but an effective government needs to be active and helpful to its citizens. My priorities are growing public safety, managing fiscal responsibility, encouraging responsible development that maintains our small-town character, supporting job growth, and ensuring developers contribute to infrastructure and public services as they invest in our town.<\/p>\n

I want to hear from the people of Ingalls, learn your perspectives, and work together to make decisions that truly reflect our community\u2019s needs.
